The Color Purple

According to author Samuel Johnnson, "Literature is a kind of intellectual light which like the light of the sun, may sometime

enable us to see what we do not like." I think it means literature is a type of intellectual light such as the light of the sun, may

sometime empower use to see what we dislike.  I agree with this statement.  In the story The Color Purple by Alice Walker

the characterization used to critize the life of the character Celie.

The first characterization is about Celie's background.  A young black Georgial firl who faces adulthood believing that she

has been raped by her step father. He killed both of their babies.  The novel examines her struggle to find love, self-esteem,

and continuing courage despite harsh setbacks.  Her father Fonso chose a moody, vicious manto marru to Celie.  She had two

children Olivia  and Adam.  In this novel we can see this statement is ture.  This novel let us see what we dislike.  Celie was an

unhappy person.  She had been raped by her father and he killed their two babies.  This was sad to Celie.  she had no love,

and only have a little of self-esteem.  Then her father let her marry to another man.  those all are unfair to her, and we disliek to

see in our lives.  In my opinion I can't believe those thing is fact. It is so sad.
